The Unspoken
Agreement

Policies written with the same precision we apply to each coat of lacquer.

In the stillness between raw wood and final polish lies an understanding. These pages hold the invisible structure that allows beauty to endure. Like the patient rhythm of applying urushi in a temperature-controlled atelier, our policies exist to protect both the objects we create and the trust you place in us.

ESTABLISHED 1928
漆 — 30 LAYERS OF INTENTION
PRIVACY NOTICE

Your data is handled with the same discretion as a 300-year-old technique.

We collect only what is necessary to complete your reservation or inquiry. Information rests quietly in secure servers in Osaka, never shared with third parties except when required by Japanese law. The scent of privacy is as important to us as the faint camphor aroma that rises when fresh urushi is stirred.

SHIPPING & HANDLING

Each piece travels as if it were still wet with final lacquer.

Our urushi vessels are born in the humidity-controlled rooms of our 大田区 atelier. When they leave, they are wrapped in washi paper, nested in paulownia boxes, and placed inside shock-absorbing cedar crates. The journey is planned with the same patience as the 40-day curing process itself.

OBJECT CARE

How to live with an object that will outlive us both.

A Artisan Hobby Realm piece is not decoration. It is a companion. The faint warmth of your palm, the gentle clink against porcelain, the quiet scent of aged lacquer—these become part of its story. Follow these instructions and the piece will grow more beautiful with each passing decade.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Every curve, every layer, every mark belongs to the lineage.

Our forms, surface textures, and signature “大田区 haze” finishing technique are protected under Japanese design law and international copyright. The 18-generation urushi lineage represented by master Kimura Satoshi cannot be replicated without explicit written permission.

TERMS OF SERVICE

The quiet contract between maker, object, and owner.

By placing an order or reserving a workshop you enter a relationship of mutual respect. These terms exist not to limit possibility but to protect the integrity of objects that carry centuries of knowledge within their thin, living layers.

ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

Digital space crafted with the same consideration as physical objects.

We have designed this digital home with the same reverence for clarity and calm that defines our physical atelier. Every interaction has been considered so that the contemplative experience remains available to all who seek it.

THE SPIRIT BEHIND THE RULES

These policies were written by the same hands that apply the final layer of translucent lacquer.

Master Kimura Satoshi, 11th-generation urushi practitioner, reviewed every sentence. The language was refined over 47 drafts in the same room where lacquer is stirred at dawn. What you read here is not legal filler. It is an extension of the philosophy that has guided our atelier since 1928: respect the material, respect the customer, respect time itself.

IN CONCLUSION

The object remembers.
The customer remembers.
We remember.

Every policy on this page was written to honor that memory.
